Okay, so this is my first book review and hopefully it won’t be awful, but there’s always a possibility, positive thoughts right?
Title- Red Queen
Author- Victoria Aveyard
Mare Barrow’s world is divided by blood—those with red and those with silver. Mare and her family are lowly Reds, destined to serve the Silver Elite whose supernatural abilities make them nearly gods.
Okay, so I got this synopsis from wiki, I thought okay, lets just write my thoughts, opinions and wishes. So I read this book ages ago, like at the beginning of 2017, so I’m just going of memory here. However I read the 3rd book a couple of months ago and thought it was amazing.
Whenever I first read a book, I always go on Pinterest and look at the general aesthetic of the book. Can I just tell you how amazing some of the Pinterest boards are, like you NEED to check it out because I was obsessed.
Anyway, back to the book, when I first started reading it, I kind of just fell in love with Mare (The main character who is one of my favourite protagonist ever!) (aside from Rose Hathaway from Vampire Academy) Mare is one of those characters that you always love but just want to shake her because of the many bad decisions she has made, but learned from (thank god)
She has such strong opinions as well, even from the first few words in the book:
“I hate First Friday”
Yep these were literally the first words in the book, and how can you not love her all ready? She’s not afraid to take what she want either (literally) and I just love that about her. Also she’s not blind to the real world either, she knows there’s not going to be a happy ever after and she accepted it… until her whole life completely changes.
Oh and when I say her life changes, it really does.
UGH! I dont want to give anything away, and its really hard because I just want to blurt everything out right now! But i’ll be good and just leave it at that.
Okay so I basically loved everything about this book, here a little list 🙂
- I loved Mare so much its crazy
- I loved Cal, it was good for the first 3 books
- I loved Maven, but it didn’t last
- Is it bad I loved Queen Elara?
- Also Mare’s brothers bring a new level of love for this book series
Okay so an overall review Is that I adored Red Queen, it shows the divide between Red bloods and Silver blood and how life is so contrastingly different including wealth, how each person is treated differently depending on the colour of their blood and how new bloods are brought into this world and are hidden under the pretence of being a silver blood as everything they know is well, basically crippled (basically).
If you have read this book, would you change anything?
(feel free to leave a comment… if you want, you don’t have to)
I would 100% recommend this book to anyone, I feel like all ages would love this book and should give it a try as there is something for everyone to love. Can I just say how amazing this book cover is by the way… like wow!
Okay thanks so much, I hope this helps and I will defo do another blog post tomorrow ❤
Oh and by the way, the adorable dog above is Buster and I can’t not put pictures of him in my blog…there all also be Cat appearances as well xxx
